Mr. Edwards has been involved in theater for most of his life and has been a professional sound designer and systems designer for the past 20 years. As Resident Sound Designer for the Children’s Theatre Company, Minneapolis, MN, he installed the first digitally controlled analog console in any theater. This was the Euphonix CS-1. With a revolutionary design, this console completely changed the way we think about mixing audio. Mr. Edwards was also one of the first to use a digital workstation to playback audio for live theater. This was the Digital Hybrid Arts editor based on an Atari Mega 4 computer. Yep, that’s 4 MB of ram. As Resident Sound Designer with the Guthrie Theater, Minneapolis, MN Mr. Edwards developed the first networked audio playback system to stream audio files from a NT file server over a 100TX Ethernet connection. This was in collaboration with Stage Research, Inc. The software: SFX.
